What type of paint should I use for decorating pyrography pieces? I don't want the colour to 'bleed' or 'run'?

you should prime the wood with a water based paint then you can use either acryllic, watercolour, or oil based paint. finally a varnish can be added to protect the paint.Decorative painting on wood?
u can also use coloured pencils for nice subtle effects
Acrylic.
u could use acrylic or oil paint as they are thick just be sure not to use water.
